Business Manager (BBBEE Advisory and Business Development)

The Business Manager will be responsible for leading the organization’s business development, sales, and operational strategies to achieve sustainable growth and exceptional client service delivery. This will include identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, driving the company’s market position as a trusted specialist in B-BBEE advisory services, ensuring that the business is financially sustainable through effective commercial strategies, ensuring operational excellence, ensuring the back-office function is lean and effective; and  identifying and onboarding new Advisors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing a clear commercial strategy aligned with the company’s mission and goals
  • Monitoring industry trends and regulatory changes related to BBBEE and ensuring the company remains a market leader
  • Analysing market data and client feedback to recommend service enhancements
  • Fostering collaboration across Advisory teams to deliver comprehensive BBBEE solutions
  • Positioning the company as a thought leader by ensuring ongoing training and professional development for the Advisory team
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and potential clients
  • Researching and analysing market trends to identify growth opportunities
  • Leading marketing and business development initiatives
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction, retention and business growth
  • Developing and implementing engagement strategies including workshops, webinars and strategic forums
  • Staying updated with developments in BBBEE legislation and best practices
  • Supporting and leading the Advisory team to deliver accurate and relevant client solutions
  • Maintaining relationships with industry experts and regulators to ensure alignment and influence
  • Ensuring continuous professional development of the Advisory team
  • Identifying and recruiting new Associated Advisors to expand the company’s Advisory capacity
  • Developing and implementing onboarding processes for new Associated Advisors to ensure alignment with company values, standards and operational practices
  • Establishing and maintaining contracts, performance monitoring systems and engagement guidelines for Associated Advisors
  • Fostering strong relationships with Associated Advisors to ensure their long-term engagement and effectiveness
  • Working closely with the Business Manager to identify project opportunities within BBBEE progress reporting and transformation impact reporting for companies
  • Ensuring that transformation reporting effectively reflects the impact of BBBEE contributions, expenditure and initiatives
  • Pooling together a combination of internal skills from Associates and Advisors or sourcing required expertise from the market to ensure project success
  • Allocating the right resource or combination of individuals to client projects or accounts based on expertise, client needs and project objectives
  • Ensuring seamless co-ordination between internal and external stakeholders to optimise project execution and impact
  • Setting and achieving sales targets and revenue goals
  • Developing strategic sales and marketing plans to expand the client base
  • Creating and maintaining a client pricing framework for Advisors and projects
  • Creating compelling proposals tailored to client needs
  • Negotiating contracts and pricing to maximise profitability
  • Preparing and managing sales forecasts, budgets and performance reports
  • Ensuring efficient and effective back-office operations
  • Developing and managing commercial strategies that make the back-office function financially self-sustaining
  • Establishing a viable revenue share model and cost-incentive structures that benefit both back-office resources and the business
  • Standardising processes for quality and productivity
  • Managing client projects while ensuring adherence to service level agreements and regulatory requirements
  • Facilitating collaboration between internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintaining centralisation and proper filing of client-related documentation
  • Strategically structuring project teams to ensure costs are well planned and aligned with the company’s revenue share model
  • Ensuring that fee or commission structures enable commercial viability while balancing competitive payouts with sustainable business margins
  • Monitoring project cost allocations to maintain financial efficiency while covering internal overheads and cost of services
  • Providing insights and recommendations on resource allocation to optimise profitability and maintain high-value service delivery
  • Developing and managing budgets and financial strategies
  • Monitoring financial performance and cost control
  • Implementing risk management strategies
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies
  • Maintaining accurate records of client interactions, contracts and billing
  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Associates, Advisors and support staff
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration, learning and innovation
  • Planning and scheduling training programmes for team development
  • Monitoring and managing team performance while ensuring alignment with business goals

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field (required)
  • Qualification (at least at Certification or training) in B-BBEE advisory services (required)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business or Management (preferred)
  • 10 Years of experience in a commercial, business development, or advisory role
  • Strong understanding of B-BBEE legislation and track record in transformation strategies
  • Proven track record of client relationship management and revenue growth
  • Experience in operational management and team leadership
